Y.E.S Soccer
Y.E.S. Soccer Program is a collaborative ministry between Open Door and Eastminster. We are looking for soccer coaches for the fall. It's great way to interact with kids and families in our church and in the East End. Little to no experience necessary. Just a desire to spend time with kids on the field. Practice once a week with games on Saturday morning. Please contact Kevin Bell if you are interested or have questions @ kmb7@pitt.edu

Highland Park Prayer
Praying alone is hard for most of us. Let's try doing more of it together more regularly. Starting on July 9th, Julie Draper's house (6326 Glenview Place, 15206) will be open Thursday mornings from 8:45- 9:15am for communal prayer. We'll do a brief liturgy, and spend some time praying for each other, for the neighborhood, and for the world at large. If you are interested but the time or place doesn't work for you, let Julie ( jfdraper@gmail.com) or Suzi ( pghgurl30@gmail.com) know, and we'll work hard to find a way to include you as the experiment hopefully grows and evolves. This is open to anyone. (Note: this household has two large dogs which shall be barred from participating in prayer, but nevertheless, let Julie know if you have serious pet allergies).

Ancient Christian Faith Initiative
Some of you know about the Ancient Christian Faith Initiative ( www.ancientchristianfaith.org), others of you don't. So, let me introduce ACFI to you. Our most basic premise is that we desire and pray for the conversion of all things. We want to see Christians, lay and ordained, standing in awe at the beauty of the Gospel, worshipping Jesus Christ with wonder and joy. We're of the conviction that the ancient Christian faith offers a powerful and transformative vision of what it means to be a Christian. In the fall, we'll be offering two eight week seminars in Pittsburgh - "How to Read the Bible According to the Early Church" and "Pillars of the Church." The seminars will last from the middle of September through the beginning of November. In the "Pillars" seminar, we will learn from the most important teachers of the Latin and Syriac traditions and one of the most important of the Greek world. In the "How to Read the Bible" seminar, I guarantee that people will grow to love the Bible more and love to read the Bible more. We would love to have you join us. This isn't just for history buffs or theology buffs. This isn't exactly academic. This isn't really a classroom. This is devotional, for the continued conversion of our minds and souls. This is for Christians who desire to grow in their love for Jesus Christ. If you're interested, please visit our website for more information and registration: www.ancientchristianfaith.org.

Prayer Stations
Do you have an idea for a prayer station? We want to give everyone in the community the opportunity to express themselves through our monthly prayer stations on the 3rd Sunday of the month. How do you best connect with God, others and the world through prayer? How can you help others connect in the same way? Are you passionate about a particular mission partner, scripture verse, or characteristic of Christ that can be incorporated into a prayer experience? How would you use your five senses to think and do prayer? The opportunities are limitless. If you would like to create something for our August 16th worship gathering, please email Melissa Brown at melbrown47@yahoo.com
